Vision
Over 50 studio films have been shot in and around southern Utah. From "In Old Arizona" in 1929, which was the first "talkie" film shot outside, through the golden age of Hollywood, bringing such names as John Wayne, Robert Redford, Paul Newman and more. Today and sporadically there are movies that come through using southern Utah as it's backdrop. Our vision at Cypress Rock Productions is to keep that film making spirit alive and well by attracting more filmmakers abroad to shoot in this beautiful area and hire many talented actors and crew members that live here.
Who are we?
Dan Fowlks grew up in southern Utah. His love for movies and television started at a very young age. He'd make short films with a VHS camcorder, edit them through using 2 VCR's and then be please to show them to his family and friends. His personal choice in pursuing film making came from starting to attend film school and then decided to leave the technicalities and find work and opportunity through travel and searching for Production Assistant work on set. He has worked on various commercial productions in southern Utah as a production assistant, then gradually finding his way to acting for film. Starting in 2011, Dan was able to start working on set as an actor and evolve into more leading roles. Seeing film making happen on a more regular schedule in southern Utah is Dan's ultimate dream. "There are so many useful, talented and worthwhile people in southern Utah who travel for productions anyway. Why not be able to bring more opportunities here?" The only academy award Dan wants to win is the ability to see multiple production opportunities happen in southern Utah and know that he was a small part of helping with that. |
